Westlake High School students paid homage today to their classmate, 18-year-old senior Ben Breedlove, who died Christmas Day after a life spent battling a devastating heart condition.

Ben Breedlove, the 18-year-old Westlake High School student who survived a collapse and three minutes without a heartbeat on Dec. 6 and then posted one of YouTube’s most popular recent videos about his experiences, died on Christmas Day after opening presents with his family.

Maxwell, Locke & Ritter has completed the internal audit of the Eanes school district for the year ended Aug. 31, 2011, finding that records fairly reflected the district’s financial state.

Alexandria Ilic, a senior at Westlake High School, and two teammates were team regional finalists in Region Two finals of the prestigious Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology at the University of Texas in November.

The Eanes school district has joined a coalition of districts suing the state of Texas, claiming the state is not adequately funding its public schools and has hampered districts from raising taxes.
