Action taken by the West Lake Hills City Council last week is probably an indication of why decisions on where dedicated left-turn signals go should be left entirely up to the Texas Department of Transportation (see story on page A3).

The Eanes school board made the right decision Monday in backing off from any immediate plan for a proposed bond package because serious thought should be given to any all-or-nothing plan that includes a covered practice facility (see story on front page).

Since no one commenting on our online version of the Westlake Picayune has submitted a letter to the editor for the record on the topic of the Rollingwood Women’s Club’s gift of $10,000 to a park projects, we felt it was important to clear the air here and with an article on the front page.

When Westlake Chamber of Commerce director Elena Ward told me that only $100 had been contributed to the Community Holiday Tree less than one week before it was scheduled to go up at the corner Bee Cave Road and Rollingwood Drive, the Chamber’s 10-year tradition appeared to be in danger of ending.
