The West Lake Hills Police Department apprehended a suspect shortly after a 4 p.m. robbery of the IronStone Bank, 5500 Bee Cave Road. At 6:40 p.m., WLH police were holding the suspect, whose name has not yet been released. He was booked and transported to the Austin Police Department. At approximately 4 p.m., an armed single male entered the bank and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, said WLH Mayor Dave Claunch. Ironstone bank tellers triggered a silent alarm, and WLH police responded to the scene and began searching the area. Officer Chris Vasquez of the WLPD spotted a man walking behind buildings in The Village of Westlake shopping center, and a search of a bag reportedly carried by the man uncovered a pistol, clothes matching the description of those worn by the bank robber and a large amount of cash, Claunch said. No further details were available until the booking of the suspect by APD.
