• Eanes school district Superintendent Nola Wellman will continue presentations to parents and others interested in a bird’s-eye view of the state of the district at local campuses in October, with talks scheduled for Friday, Oct. 1, at 8:45 a.m. in the Forest Trail Elementary School library, Monday, Oct. 4,  at 7 p.m. in the Westlake High School Chap Room, Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 9 a.m. in the Hill Country Middle School library, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Creek Elementary School Commons and Oct. 15 at 9 a.m. in the West Ridge Middle School library. • Lt. Philip Becker, a 2003 graduate of Westlake High School, recently earned his pilot wings at Vance Air Force Base.
