Westlake High School cheerleading squads celebrate with awards after impressive performances at the recent UCA Cheer Camp at the University of Texas.

Both the Westlake High School cheerleaders and mascots earned “Superior Program” Awards at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Cheer Camp hosted by the University of Texas, July 27-30.

The entire Spirit Squad earned the “Top Banana,” one of the most prestigious awards, from all the other teams contending. The “Top Banana” is given to the squad/program that shows the most spirit, effort and enthusiasm at camp.

The varsity squad won first place in cheer camp chant and second in home pom; the junior varsity won first place in cheer chant, home pom and extreme routine; and the freshman won first place in home pom and extreme cheer and second place in cheer camp chant.

Earning individual recognition for All-American Cheerleading were Lindsey Allen, Brittany Pearson, Avery Ferguson, N’kisha Heffington, Delilah Bennett, April Yu and Katherine Farmer.

Earning individual recognition for All-American Mascot were Natalia Russell, Claira Navaro and Sarah Guthrie.
