H-E-B is bringing summer cooking fun back to the Westbank with the first of monthly classes. An Elegant Summer Sendoff class is scheduled for Aug. 3 from 7-8 p.m.

The class will feature four courses that include wine and cheese and desert.

“We are offering the classes as a unique perk to our customers who want to enhance their cooking skills and change up their menu repertoire,” said Kylie Bentley, a registered dietitian at the Village of Westlake H-E-B.

The classes give local residents a good opportunity to learn basic cooking techniques, understand wine and food pairings and consider unique ways to use everyday ingredients, Bentley said.

“I believe the classes foster community by gathering a small group together over a common love of food,” she added. “The Westlake community is very active and busy. I watch (people) reconnect at H-E-B but only with a minute to say hello. This class forum provides a close location for friends, co-workers and neighbors to set aside one hour a month for great food, education and time spent with old and new friends.”

The classes will not be hands on for participants. H-E-B staff will do the cooking. The menu for the Aug. 3 class will include a first-course of wine and cheese, followed by a strawberry spinach salad, steak roulade with grilled artichoke hearts and stuffed shrimp with a wine pairing, ending with a seasonal berry trifle.

Anyone interested in participating in the community cooking class can register at the business center within the store, and $20 covers the cost of food.
