After one of the most promising debut years in Westlake history, sophomore outfielder Lewis Guilbeau continued to pick up postseason honors.
The outfielder, who hit .466 with 39 RBIs in the regular season, received a spot on the Class 5A all-state first team from the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association. The recognition comes a week after Guilbeau received the Central Texas Newcomer of the Year award from the Austin American-Statesman.
Guilbeau also scored 25 runs, stole 10 bases and hammered four home runs.
Teammate Chris Watkins, a senior pitcher, received second-team honors after tallying a 9-1 record with seven complete games in nine starts. He had a 1.73 ERA and fanned a team-high 63 batters.
Westlake finished the season with a fifth consecutive district championship and a 21-10 record.
