Five teenagers escaped serious injury in a one-vehicle rollover accident June 7 in the 300 block of Cuernavaca Drive.

The accident reportedly occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. after the driver turned from Commons Ford Road northbound onto Cuernavaca Drive.

Dep. D. White of the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the driver lost control of the vehicle, which flipped approximately one and one-half times.

The vehicle, a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner, came to rest upside-down on the east side of the roadway.

All occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts and walked away from the accident, but they were “pretty lucky,” said White.

White said the driver of the vehicle, a 15-year-old male, was issued a citation for driving without a license and failure to control the speed of the vehicle, and the authorized user of the vehicle who was a passenger was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive.

One of the occupants reportedly went to the emergency room and was treated for a cut on his finger.
