Westlake (10-6-1) closed out a hectic stretch of games with a 7-7 tie against Round Rock Westwood Saturday at Dell Diamond.
The draw in the Westwood Warrior Classic finale was the seventh game in five days for the Chaps, who return to District 25-5A action tomorrow at Pflugerville. The game starts at 7 p.m.
The Chaps opened the Westwood tournament with an 8-7 extra-inning loss to Leander and a 4-3 win over Cedar Park March 11. A home run by Lewis Guilbeau highlighted the Chaps’ attack in their victory.
Westlake exploded for 12 runs in the third inning in a 13-7 win over Boswell Friday. The team then fell 4-3 to Arlington Martin in extra innings despite a complete game from pitcher Andrew Sullivan.
Nathan Powell hammered a two-run homer in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, but a weary Westlake pitching staff struggled in a 14-6 loss to Fort Bend Dobie. Westwood then rallied from a 7-1 deficit to force the draw in the tournament finale.
