Despite not claiming a gold medal on the track, Westlake captured the team title with 128 points at Saturday’s 76th annual Border Olympics in Laredo.

Ashley Maton finished third in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 30 seconds and placed fourth in the 1,600 in 5:38. Westlake teammate Ali Franklin edged Maton for third in the 1,600 in 5:35.

Hailey Thompson picked up a silver medal in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.01 and finished third in the 100 hurdles in 17.78. Amy Paape placed third in the 300 hurdles in 50.05.

Hannah Hood completed Westlake’s medal contingent in individual events with a second-place time of 1:02.42 in the 400.

The Chaps’ relay teams delivered three medals. The 400 team of Carly Grandcolas, Hannah Mallios, Kamri Ball and Leslie Rice finished third in 53.48. Mallios and Rice also teamed with Hood and Myeisha Foley to finish third in the 800 relay in 1:50.19.

The 1,600 relay team of Mallios, Hood, Thompson and Grandcolas finished second in 4:18.11.

Grandcolas captured her second consecutive gold medal in the long jump and finished third in the triple jump.
