After spotting visiting Bastrop a one-goal lead, Dillon Short and Westlake’s boys soccer team exploded for three straight scores in a 3-1 win Friday at Chaparral Stadium.

Short collected a hat trick for the Chaps, who improved to 10-5-3 overall with their sixth consecutive win. Westlake leads District 25-5A with a 7-3 mark and 22 points.

The match also continued a torrid scoring streak for Short, who has scored in four consecutive matches.

Thomas Haws and David Lukert each had an assist for Westlake. Buckley Willis stepped in for Dylan Shomaker in goal after the halftime break and didn’t allow a goal.
