Westlake goalkeeper Dylan Shomaker recorded his fifth straight shutout as the visiting Chap boys beat Pflugerville 2-0 Wednesday to claim first place in District 25-5A.
Westlake, which dropped three of its first four district matches, improved to 9-5-3 overall and 6-3 in district. The team has 19 points in district play, which is two more than Anderson and Pflugerville.
Dillon Short and Bailey Hinners scored for the Chaps.
Perez paces girls to win
Alexandra Perez had two goals and an assist as the Westlake girls pulled away from Pflugerville for a 4-1 win Wednesday at Chaparral Stadium.
Three of Westlake’s goals came in the second half as the Chaps (11-5-2, 8-1) tightened their grip on first place in District 25-5A. Westlake has 24 points, two more than second-place Bowie.
