Westlake senior Cody Doolin, a four-year member of the Chaps’ varsity boys basketball team, has been nominated as a McDonald’s All-American. The point guard averages 17.7 points, 7.6 assists and 3.7 steals per game for the No. 7 Chaps.

The 6-foot-2-inch Doolin, who has committed to the University of San Francisco, becomes the first Westlake boys basketball player since Brad Buckman in 2002 to earn a McDonald’s All-American nomination. He joins almost 3,000 national nominees competing for a spot on one of the four, 12-member teams playing on March 31 in Columbus, Ohio. The teams are finalized through a series of votes by a selection committee of nationally renowned coaches and sports journalists, and the final teams are announced on Feb.15.
