• Westlake’s girls soccer team stayed perfect in District 25-5A with a resounding 4-1 win over Bastrop at Chaparral Stadium. Reilly Wheat scored two goals and had an assist for Westlake, and Christy Goldberg and Katharine Noonan each added a goal. The Chaps (6-4-2 overall) improved to 3-0 in 25-5A, while Bastrop (2-1) suffered its first conference setback.
• A late goal by Bailey Hinners gave Westlake’s boys soccer team (3-5-1 overall, 1-2 in district) a 2-1 win at Bastrop and its first District 25-5A victory. Thomas Haws also scored for the Chaps.
• With the return of guards Keaton Lancashire and Hagen Fell, first-place Westlake (25-4, 10-0 in District 25-5A) flashed its depth and versatility in an 80-51 boys basketball win at Anderson (6-21, 1-9). Conner Kemper and Jason Powel scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, to lead the Chaps, who raced out to a 28-13 lead by the end of the first period.
