Barton Creek Square Mall will host a myriad of volunteers Saturday collecting donations for Haiti. Students from the University of Texas have teamed up with local groups and businesses to organize Hold Up for Haiti, a fundraising event for the victims of the recent earthquake.
Students will be volunteering from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Their goal? To collect $12,000 to donate to the cause.
Volunteers for the effort will also be at 40 street corners around Austin, as well as Lakeline Mall and The Domain collecting donations. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross, Partners in Health and Save the Children, all organizations supporting the relief effort in Haiti.
Leaders of the Hold Up for Haiti initiative hope city of Austin will band together to aid victims of the crisis.
