Westlake has raced to the top of the District 25-5A standings behind a full-throttled attack, but some clampdown defense keyed Friday’s win over visiting Connally.

The Chaps held Connally to just five points in the first period while cruising to a 55-38 victory. With the win, Westlake (24-4 overall, 9-0 in district) maintained its two-game lead over Bowie and Pflugerville in the district race. Last-place Connally fell to 10-12 overall and 0-9 in district.

Cody Doolin scored 15 points for Westlake, and Carl Meyertons added 12 points.
