The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is reporting two recent incidents of vehicle burglaries in the Lake Hills area. Both incidents involved the burglary of two unlocked vehicles parked in the owners’ driveways.
The first burglary occurred on Jan. 4 on Carlotta Lane. A money clip containing currency and a driver license was stolen from one car, and a purse containing a driver’s license, a cell phone and numerous credit cards were stolen from a second vehicle.
The thief was able to charge more than $600 on one of the stolen credit cards before the victim realized her purse was missing, said Detective Tom Szimanski of the TCSO.
The second burglary occurred on Jan. 8 on Valley View Lane. Keys to the victim’s house and car were stolen from one of the cars, and miscellaneous jewelry was taken from the second vehicle.
Carlotta Lane and Valley View Lane are intersecting streets.
“Lock your car doors, and use your car alarm if you have one,” Szimanski advised area residents. “Do not leave anything of value inside your vehicles. If you need to leave anything of value inside your car, make sure that it is hidden and out of plain view. Be vigilant about reporting any suspicious vehicles or persons. If it doesn’t look or feel right, call 9-1-1.”
Anyone with any information that might prove helpful in the investigation should call Szimanski at 854-4314.
