There were no injuries in an early-morning traffic accident between a Forest Trail Elementary School bus and a sports utility vehicle near the campus entrance. West Lake Hills police and EMS responded to the accident at 8:29 a.m.
All 36 elementary school students were sent to first-period classes as soon as police cleared the scene. One high school student was also a passenger on the bus at the time of the accident.
“Everything went as smoothly as it could after the collision,” said Laura Santos Farry, district safety officer. “It was one of those wrecks that looked worse than it was.”
No citations were issued at scene of the accident, which occurred on private property. The incident is under investigation by West Lake Hills police. The bus has some front-end damage, but is in drivable condition, said Santos Farry. The sports utility vehicle was towed from the scene.
