One of their lowest scoring periods of the season almost cost Westlake a district game.

Despite scoring just eight points in the fourth period, Westlake (17-4 overall, 2-0 in district) stayed tied atop the District 25-5A standings with a 58-57 win at Connally (10-10, 0-2) Tuesday.

Wing Conner Kemper carried the Chap offense with 20 points, while forward Carl Meyertons added 14 points in the paint. The rest of the cold-shooting Chaps combined for just 24 points.

Westlake hosts last-place Anderson Friday at 7:45 p.m.
