The Chaps’ high-powered attack hit the century mark for the first time this season during a District 25-5A-opening win at Bastrop Saturday.

Led by 27 points from point guard Cody Doolin, Westlake (15-4, 1-0) rolled to a 100-76 win over the Bears (13-7, 0-1). Forward Conner Kemper added 23 points, and Hagen Fell and Drew Wikelius came off the bench for 10 points each.

The win helped ease the sting of a disapointing showing at the Whataburger Classic in Haltom Dec. 28-30. After opening the prestigious tournment with a win over Arlington Martin, the Chaps dropped a pair of narrow contests to Long Beach (Calif.) Poly and Plano West by a combined seven points.

The losses kept Westlake from reaching the finals for the first time in three tournament showings.

Westlake travels to Connally for a District 25-5A contest tonight at 7:30 p.m.
