Nothing gets the holiday season moving faster than some hot apple cider, holiday music, and beautiful handmade gifts.

Visitors and residents of Querencia at Barton Creek got plenty of each at this year’s annual holiday bazaar, which attracted artisans from all over Texas, who came to offer their wares. It was an afternoon of old-fashioned festivities that Querencia sponsors every year in early December – designed to “jumpstart” a holiday mood within the senior resort.

“We like to get the holiday season moving early at Querencia,“ said Emily Yeager, coordinator for the event. “This year was no exception as our residents, their guests, and members of the public shopped and sampled some of the most creative, flavorful and beautiful handmade items we’ve ever had at our annual holiday bazaar. Seasonal music combined with making new friends over apple cider really set a festive tone and got the holiday spirit in motion.”

Artisans from as far away as Corpus Christi came to the retirement community and offered an eclectic assortment of items, such as wine bottles dipped in chocolate that allows for eating the chocolate shell while drinking the wine. Shoppers at the bazaar could select gifts as diverse as creative snacks, scarves, wooden bowls and vases, skin care products, handmade jewelry and candles. Many items were one-of-a-kind works of art.

Querencia at Barton Creek is a nonprofit senior living resort located at Barton Creek Boulevard and Chalk Knoll Drive just south of the Barton Creek Resort & Club.
