As part of its centennial celebration, the University Interscholastic League released its all-century defensive football team as selected by the fans, and Westlake resident Britt Hager proved popular enough to garner a spot on the third team as a linebacker.
Fans cast more than 17,000 votes for their favorite football players in Texas high school history.
Hager starred at Odessa Permian in the mid-1980s. He enjoyed an All-American career at the University of Texas before playing nine seasons in the National Football League.
He has had two sons play for the Westlake varsity football team so far, including Bryce, a senior linebacker for the Chaps.
