Westlake will host San Antonio Madison Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Chaparral Stadium in a Class 5A Region IV Division I bidistrict playoff game. The Chaps (8-2) shared the District 25-5A title and enter the playoffs as the district’s top Division I seed, while second-seeded Madison (7-3) finished tied for second in District 26-5A.

The game will mark the third playoff meeting between the teams in the past nine years, but the two programs will forever be linked by the tragic injury to David Edwards, the Madison defensive back who suffered a paralyzing injury in a 2003 playoff game at Chaparral Stadium. Edwards died in 2008.
