Duever commits to Central Arkansas

Westlake senior Courtney Duever has committed to play basketball at Central Arkansas University, according to Westlake girls basketball coach Keith Smith. The 6-foot-1-inch Duever led the Chaps with 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game last year while earning all-district honors.

 

Netters win pair, stay unbeaten

After its matchup with Lake Travis was rained out, Westlake’s tennis team (3-0) rolled to easy wins over San Antonio Health Careers and Bowie. The Chaps beat host Bowie 17-2 Aug. 28 and whipped visiting Health Careers 18-1 Aug. 29.   

 

Football tickets on sale

Tickets for both home and away games for adults and elementary students will be sold in the Chaparral Stadium ticket booth on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of each week from 7 a.m.- noon. For home games, all tickets are reserved, so come early to avoid the lines on Friday night. High school students will be able to purchase tickets each week in the Chap Court and the Ninth Grade Center cafeteria on Thursday and Friday. Middle school students can purchase tickets on Thursday and Friday at their school for home games. For additional information, go the athletic Web site at www.whschaps.com and click on athletics.

 

West Austin Volleyball to host clinics, league

West Austin Volleyball will offer developmental clinics and leagues clinics for second- through seventh-graders beginning Sept. 14 at West Ridge Middle School and Forest Trail Elementary.   Volleyball leagues will also be offered for those who would like to play games immediately after the clinics. Spartans open year in Hawaii

The St. Stephen’s volleyball team kicked off its preseason by playing in the Maui Invitational Tournament at Seabury Hall, located in the upcountry region on the island of Maui. St Stephen’s finished fifth overall but was able to put up a good fight against Capistrano High School, Calif., and King Kamehameha-Maui, Hawaii. Both teams were pool play opponents and eventual finalists in the tournament.
