Austin police ended a nearly three-hour standoff with an armed man in the greenbelt near the busy intersection of MoPac and Loop 360 peacefully Monday afternoon.

An Austin Police Department SWAT team surrounded an unidentified man with a gun at about 4 p.m. on Monday. As a precaution, traffic on both northbound and southbound Mopac was redirected onto Loop 360.
Austin police department officers originally responded to the call at 3:20 p.m. reporting a man wielding a gun in the 3800 block of the South Mopac frontage road.
