The new Sprouts Farmers Market grocery store recently received a variance from the Rollingwood City Council as construction continues to prepare for its opening in late September or early October.

The Council allowed the store to have three signs instead two and more square footage than normally allowed.

Dan Wheat, a representative of Barshop & Oles, the company that manages the shopping center where Sprouts will open, presented before the Council.

Sprouts is opening during a tough economy, and with a lot of surrounding competition, including Randalls, H-E-B, and Whole Foods Market, Wheat said.

This sign variance will help Sprouts, and the city will benefit from the boost in sales tax, he said.

“It will do a lot of good things for everyone involved,” he said.
