After one of the best seasons on the mound in Westlake history, senior James Ferguson has earned a spot on the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 5A first team.
Ferguson, District 25-5A’s Most Valuable Player, went 9-1 with an 0.86 ERA in the regular season. He tossed eight complete games in 10 starts and struck out 68 batters with 21 walks.
The 6-foot-3-inch lefthander continued that sucess in the playoffs as the Chaps qualified for the Class 5A state tourament for the first time in 10 years. Ferguson picked up four wins in five starts and tossed two complete-game shutouts in six appearances.
Ferguson, who will pitch for McLennan Community College in Waco in the fall, competed for Team Texas in the Sunbelt Classic in Norman, Okla., last weekend.
Seach picks up academic accolades
Senior first baseman Nick Seach received Class 5A academic all-state accolades from the THSBCA.
