The West Lake Hills sewer system is nearing completion as the city connects its commercial customers.

“All the mains are completed,” Wastewater Commission Chairman Steve Hudson said.

The city is now connecting several commercial customers, such as the Barton Springs Nursery and Austin’s Pizza, at 3638 Bee Cave Road, and city officials hope to have the remaining commercial customers connected by the end of June.

Some of these commercial customers are simply waiting for electrical components or pumps.

“They’re in various stages of waiting to be finished,” Hudson said.

Residential customers are responsible for their own connections as they elect to join the system.

So far, the project is under-budget, Hudson said.

Hudson said the contractor still has a few details to complete before the sewer project is finished, but he expects the end of the project to be in late July.
