The owner of an office building on Bee Cave Road is rebuilding after a fire on March 26 destroyed his property.
Although the fire destroyed the second story of the building at 3010 Bee Cave Road, which contained Signature Nails and Spa, the first floor only had water damage from when firefighters extinguished the blaze, property owner Clay Morgan said.
“We’re going to rebuild it,” he said.
Morgan said crews had to tear down the interior of the bottom floor to the studs.
The finished building will look similar to the building before the fire.
Morgan said he estimates the rebuilding cost will be between $300,000 and $500,000.
Although he is not sure when the building will be completed, he said he hopes to finish by the end of the year.
Morgan said he does not know if the businesses that previously occupied the building will return.
Abercrombie Gems & Precious Metals, one of the three businesses destroyed in the fire, moved to the building directly next door after the fire.
Firefighters responded to the March fire after a passerby reported smoke and flames going through the roof of the office building at at about 8:50 p.m. that night, Westlake Fire Department Assistant Chief Mike Elliott said in a previous interview.
When firefighters arrived, no one was in the building.
It took eight firefighting vehicles about two hours to extinguish the fire.
Elliott has said the fire is under investigation, but has not given any further details.
