The Westlake High School Hyline Dance Team initiated 13 new members last week at their annual “First Course” ceremony and inducted new team officers and board members to lead the team in the 2009-2010 school year.

New to the team are Natalie Banister, Moira Bering, Annie Berryhill, Ashlyn Brandenburg, Kylie Brewer, Katie Dawkins, Alex Faglie, Lauren Gier, Claire Patterson, Emily Poston, Meredith Trank, Janey Umstattd and Lucy Welch.

Team officers include Ashley Charlton, captain; Mallory Douthit, first lieutenant; and Shaila Isham, Desiree Weinstock, Madelyn Wilson and Amber Witt, second lieutenants. They will be attending a dance team officer camp in Dallas next month.

Hyline board members for the new school year are Zoe Cronin, president; Chandler Mason, Vice President; Shelby Hardaway, secretary; Sally Singletary, treasurer; Rachel Bryson, spirit director; and Alex Kelly, historian.  

Hyline will conduct its popular Summer Dance Clinic fundraiser Aug. 11-13 for young dancers in kindergarten through fifth grade. Students may attend morning or afternoon sessions or stay for a full day of fun.  The Westlake Hyline Jazz Workshop for dancers in sixth through ninth grades will be Aug. 11-13 from 1:30-5 p.m.
