An Austin woman was charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer after police said she attacked a West Lake Hills officer at the Travis County Sheriff’s Office Central Booking facility.
Officers Dan Arispe and Sabrina Phillips found Jeannie Harithas, 49, in the middle of the 3300 block of Bee Cave Road at about 10:23 p.m. on May 7, according to a West Lake Hills Police Department report.
Arispe smelled alcohol on Harithas’ breath and saw her stagger and fall down when she tried to stand up and talk with police, according to the report.
Harithas would not give her name, but a nearby witness identified her.
Phillips handcuffed Harithas and the officers carried her to the patrol car, according to the report.
Once in the car, Harithas started kicking the divider between the back and front seats until the officers shackled her.
When she reached Central Booking, at 509 W. 11th St., Harithas attacked Arispe in the holding area, according to the report.
According to the report, Harithas kicked Arispe with her right foot, and when Arispe tried to pull back, Harithas hit Arispe in the arms and left leg.
Arispe and Travis County Jail personnel then restrained Harithas on the ground.
Police Chief Cliff Spratlan said assault against a peace officer is a felony.
He said assault against WLHPD officers is rare.

I demand an apology on behalf of my sister, Jeannie Harithas. I read this article in shock. I could not believe that you would take one of your own neighbors and prosecute her before she was even judged before a court. Do you have any idea what caused her behavior? Do you know her situation? Do you know the difference she has made with disabled individuals in your community? The people that you throw away. They all love “Jeannie”, why? You need to make a public statement about your actions.

I’ve known jeanne for quiet some time. please do not judge her until you understand what she was going through.

  3. A friend of Jeanne"s says:

West lake hills residents are quick to judge! My friend jeanne is going through a depression. Something you would not know about. Just remember the police are not always right. Like you judge God will judge you accordingly!
