Westlake had to work a little extra, but the Chaps stayed perfect in District 25-5A with a 4-3 win over Anderson Friday at Woerner Field.

A two-out RBI single by outfielder Will Harris in the eighth inning provided Westlake with the winning run. The Chaps (11-9 overall, 5-0 in district) opened the frame with a strikeout and groundout before Collin Shaw drew a two-out walk. Shaw stole second base, prompting Anderson to intentionally walk Michael Perkins.

Harris then made the Trojans pay for the decision with his second hit of the game.

Harris’ hit helped pitcher Holt McNair earn the win. McNair scattered seven hits across eight innings while working his third complete game of the season.

Anderson entered the sixth inning with a 3-1 lead, but Stephen Koenig, who went 3-for-4 on the game, triggered Westlake’s rally with a leadoff single and scored on an RBI single from Chandler Geller. The shortstop also played a big role in the seventh inning when he moved Chris Knight to third base with a two-out single.

Knight then evened the score when he raced across home plate on a wild pitch.
