Although West Lake Hills recently received the remainder of the funds originally set aside to improve Bee Cave Road, Rollingwood will continue to pursue the completion of the center-turn lane in the city.

Mayor Dale Dingley said the city will continue its attempts to gain the needed right of way to continue the center-turn lane through Rollingwood and improve Bee Cave Road.

“Obviously we’re not going to do it with that money,” he said.

Currently the center turn lane reaches from MoPac to just west of the Palisades office park.

“We don’t intend to drop the idea,” Dingley said.

Dingley said the top priority for the city in attempting to improve the road is to obtain the right of way needed to build the turn lane.

“We’re not going to give up on trying to get right of way,” he said.

Then the city needs to convince the Texas Department of Transportation to allocate more funding for the improvements, Dingley said.

Dingley said he’s hoping the recently passed national stimulus plan might free up funding for the improvements.
