The Eanes school district has narrowed its search for Westlake’s new head football coach to three finalists, according to director of communications Dale Whitaker.

An action item to hire a new coach has been placed on the agenda for tomorrow’s scheduled school board meeting, although the item could be pulled before the board meets.

Although the district has not released the names of the finalists, Odessa Permian head coach Darren Allman appears to be the leading candidate, according to sources in and out of the district. Allman has interviewed at least twice with district representatives and traveled to the district Sunday for a meeting with the district’s interview committee.

That committee selected the three finalists, who have all interviewed with Eanes superintendent Nola Wellman. Wellman will present her recommendation to the school board either Wednesday or at a special session to be called at a later date.
