After leading the Westlake volleyball team to a fifth state championship match this decade, the National Federation of State High School Coaches Association has named Coach Al Bennett the 2008 Volleyball Coach of the Year for the state of Texas.

Girls soccer: Team rebounds from loss, wins 2 in Katy

After falling to defending Class 4A champion McKinney Boyd 2-1 in the first round of the Katy I-10 Shootout last weekend, Westlake’s girls soccer team rebounded with a 4-0 win over Klein and a 3-2 shootout win over beat Cy Creek and win the consolation title of the north bracket.
