Despite traveling to the recent Doc Hess Invitational in Bryan with only 11 wrestlers, the Chaps emerged from the 40-team tournament with a second-place finish.

The tournament featured two brackets at each weight class, then the champions of each bracket meet in a superfinal. 

Westlake had three bracket champions and two superfinal champs. Sawyer Morris remained udefeated by beating Bret Denver of Katy Seven Lakes 8-2 in the superfinal at 145 pounds. Peyton Burns won the superfinal at 152 by beating Tanner Twomey of Katy Morton Ranch 6-4. Alex Hershey won his bracket but lost in the superfinal at 160 to Ryan Slebodnik of Katy Cinco Ranch.

David Nickelatti, John McMichael and David Durham all finished second in their brackets. Chase Betzer suffered his first loss of the year and finished third at 130. Jim Gianakopolous also finished third at 140.
