Friday’s matchup between Westlake and Pflugerville will have a major impact on the District 25-5A race. The Panthers, who moved in the conference during the UIL’s biennial realignment early in the year, are ranked No. 8 in the state by the Texas Girls Coaches Association and entered the season as the prohibitive favorite in 25-5A. The Chaps have garnered attention with a 15-2 record that includes a tournament win in Corpus Christi last week. Both teams impressed in their district openers last week: Westlake blasted Bowie 66-26, while Pflugerville routed Bastrop 79-29.
The game starts at 7 p.m. at Westlake High School
