When: Saturday, 2 p.m.

Where: Alamodome, San Antonio

Radio/TV: 1370 AM.

Records: Westlake, 9-4; SA Clark, 12-1

Foe to know: Running back Jock Tilghman leads all area San Antonio 5A runners with 2,174 yards and 25 touchdowns on 253 carries.

Stat that matters: 5 – Wins by Clark in five games decided by a touchdown or less this season.

Watch to watch: Can Westlake continue its torrid first-half pace? During their eight-game win streak, the Chaps have outscored opponents 246-49 in the first half. As evident during their 28-21 win over San Antonio Madison two weeks ago, the Cougars like to control the game with a bruising rushing attack: Clark held the ball almost 19 minutes in the second half and limited dangerous Madison tailback Aaron Green to four carries. If Westlake leaps out to its customary big lead, the Cougars won’t be able to control the clock and control the game.

Rundown: The Cougars have relied on a simple formula while rolling up a dozen wins this season: Give the ball to Tilghman and let him grind out yards behind a massive offensive line. … Clark averages 404.3 yards of offense per game, with 327 of those yards coming on the ground. … Backup QB Aaron Durke started in a last week, but starter Hayden Greenbaur will likely return this week. … Defense allows 17 points a game … Clark finished second in District 28-5A after a 45-34 loss to district champ SA Warren. … In their lone shared opponent, Westlake beat SA Stevens 42-7 while Clark won 24-17.

Picayune’s pick: Westlake 42, Clark 28.
