Westlake’s top-ranked boys squad had another impressive performance at Seguin last week, shooting a 291 to capture the Seguin Invitational Nov. 17 at Starke Park Golf Course.

Westlake swept the top four spots in the tournament individually while defeating second-place Seguin by 37 strokes. Daniel Northington won individual honors with a 71, Paul Otte fired a 72, Michael McCall shot a 73, and Greg Rosson fired a 75. Tripp Ateyeh rounded out the team score with a sixth-place score of 79.

The Chaps, ranked first by the Texas Association of Golf Coaches, have won eight of their 10 tournaments this season.

 

Girls win SV tournament

A barrage of birdies during the first round of the Smithson Valley Stampede helped Westlake build an insurmountable lead while winning the tournament with a 645. The Chaps fired seven birdies while shooting a 313 during the round to build a 10-stroke lead. They ended the tournament 16 strokes ahead of second-place Smithson Valle Nov. 14-15 at River Crossing Golf Course.  

Taylor Moreno fired a second-place score of 74-79 153 to lead the Chaps. Kaylin Terry (72-85 157) finished fifth, Carly Berryhill (82-82 164) placed 10th, Haley Haught (85-86 171) placed 17th and Jenna Stene (93-88 181) finished 30th.
