With the win over Anderson Friday, Westlake extended one of the program’s proudest streaks.

The Chaps clinched a playoff spot for the 21st consecutive season, the longest streak among Class 5A schools in Texas history. Westlake last missed the playoffs in 1986, when it went 2-8 overall and 1-6 in District 14-5A.

Katy ranks second in current playoff appearances among 5A schools with 17.

Westlake’s streak ranks fourth on the all-time list. Houston Yates holds the all-time streak at 31, but that string appears in danger after the Lions dropped to 0-3 in district last week.
